Golden Gloves VR

Role: Gameplay Programmer

 

A virtual reality boxing game released on the Meta Quest series of headsets. Golden Gloves VR aims to bring a realistic boxing experience to the player's headset, with features such as physics-based punching bags, a career mode of increasingly difficult AI boxers, and multiplayer to spar with members of the community.

As I work to get my foot in the door in writing, I will post relevant works here, running the gamut from game reviews to short stories. I'm excited to share my writings with you, and I hope you have as much fun reading them as I did writing them!

About Me

My name is Madilyn Tavares, but I often go by Maddie. I am a game developer holding a Bachelor of Science in Game Development from Full Sail University with 2+ years of industry experience. I've loved game development ever since I discovered the LittleBigPlanet series and its imaginative level editor.

My most recent professional experience is the game Golden Gloves VR, the flagship title of Engine Room VR. At Engine Room VR, I created the viral 'Fists of Fury' minigame that tripled the game's daily active users, built gameplay systems in C# for Unity, coordinated multiple branches in the project's GitHub repository, and made use of agile methodology with stand-up meetings and iterative development.

I have also worked on several smaller projects (both individually and as part of a team), learning additional skills such as C++, TypeScript, Unity Events, the Scriptable Object pattern, and UI programming.

I am also looking to break into gameplay/narrative writing.
